Cuir Otafuku Sake Set
Named after the French word for "leather," the Cuir series achieves a remarkable texture and luster that mimics fine leather through a grueling technical process. Perfecting this finish required five years of dedicated experimentation and a unique firing process; each piece is fired between 5 to 7 times to reach its deep, luxurious tactile quality.
Founded in 1926 in the historic kiln village of Okawachiyama, Hataman Touen is a guardian of the Imari Nabeshima legacy. For over 370 years, this porcelain tradition was a closely guarded secret, reserved exclusively for the Imperial Court and Japan’s feudal elite. Today, the studio continues to honor this heritage by bridging ancient techniques with contemporary expression.
