Minako Sakurai Noyaki Vase 2501
Noyaki (野焼き) is a primitive firing method in which pieces are fired directly without using a kiln, by burning fuel such as firewood or straw. It is mainly used to fire earthenware and hajiki (unglazed pottery), and was the predominant method during periods like the Jomon and Yayoi eras, before kilns had been developed.
Vases shaped by Minako Sakurai’s gentle, warm hands carry a quiet echo of medieval Europe. Each piece is carefully fired—one at a time—in a kiln nestled in the fresh mountain air, emerging with a distinct, luminous presence the moment it’s complete. Her ceramics reflect her spirit: calm, sincere, and quietly strong.
Each piece is handmade, so there may be slight variations in size and color. Please understand this as part of the charm of handcrafted items. Colors may appear slightly different depending on your computer or viewing environment.
